Description
Alcohol resistant aqueous film-forming foam extinguishing agent is made mainly of composite
surfactant, polar film-forming agent, cosolvent,
stabilizer, antifreeze agent, preservatives and
water.
Characteristics for film forming foam are that it spreads rapidly across a fire. As a result, it is highly effective against hydrocarbon fires. Adding special polymers ensures it is also highly effective against polar solvents.
The low surface tension of the water foam concentrate solution enables the aqueous film, which is heavier than the burning liquid, to float on top of the hydrocarbon liquid surface.
When applied on polar solvents a polymeric membrane makes it possible for the foam blanket to extinguish effectively. This works also on foam destroying liquids such as MTBE.
Application
This extinguishing agent has the function of
aqueous film-forming to put out oil material fires.
At the same time, with the adding of polar film
forming agent, AFFF-AR can
extinguish polar solvents like alcohol, ester, ketone, etc.
It is widely used in oil fields, oil depots, large
Chemical plants, wineries, shipping venues, etc.
Proportioning:
AR-AFFF 1-3 use at 1%( 1 part concentrate to 99 parts of water) on hydrocarbon fuel and 3%( 3 parts concentrate to 97 parts of water) on polar solvent.
AR-AFFF 3% use at 3%( 3 part concentrate to 97 parts of water) on hydrocarbon fuel and 3%( 3 parts concentrate to 97 parts of water) on polar solvent.
AR-AFFF 3-6 use at 3%( 3 part concentrate to 97 parts of water) on hydrocarbon fuel and 6%( 6 parts concentrate to 94 parts of water) on polar solvent.
AR-AFFF 6% use at 6%( 6 part concentrate to 94 parts of water) on hydrocarbon fuel and 6%( 6 parts concentrate to 94 parts of water) on polar solvent.
Compatibility
AR-AFFF is suitable for use in combination with:
Soft or hard, fresh, brackish or sea water.
Dry powder extinguishing agents either separately or as twin agent systems.
Expanded protein-based or synthetic foams for application to a fire in sequence or simultaneously
Storage / Shelf life
Stored in original unbroken packaging the product will have a shelf life of 8 years at least. As with all foams, shelf life will be dependent on storage temperatures and conditions. If the product is frozen during storage or transport, thawing will render the product completely usable.
